Orhan Yücel, M.D.
He was born in Ankara in 1970. After graduation from medical faculty, he worked for the Health Ministry as a general practitioner. He then applied for the military doctor occupations of the Turkish Armed Forces and served as a first lieutenant field general practitioner for three years in several battalions.
At the end of this period, he passed the qualification examinations for the education period of the thoracic surgery clinic at GMMA. He completed his Chest Surgery Specialization in Ankara GATA. Since 2013 he has been an associate professor.
Within the scope of his project supported by his institution and TÜBİTAK, he worked in UPMC (USA) on lung transplantation for one year. He has successfully managed and completed dozens of research projects, of which TÜBİTAK supported three. He has scientific activities such as patents, books, articles, and awarded projects related to the field of his specialization.
Research
Experimental focus
Experimental studies especially on lung transplantation, reexpansion pulmonary edema and antioxidant therapy on these cases, chemical warfare agent damage combined with blunt chest trauma which simulates the war field, and lung transplantation surgery.
Further interests include ischemia-reperfusion, graft failure, and opportunistic infections on lung transplant recipients.
